FAQ

Virtual number FAQ: frequently asked questions

Everything about the numbers, checkout, renewals and support — in one place.

The numbers

Are these real phone numbers?

Yes. Every number comes from a real mobile carrier allocation, not a VoIP pool — that's what lets it pass the carrier-type checks that strict platforms run before sending a code.

Are the numbers temporary or permanent?

Both are available. The main catalog sells permanent numbers on monthly or yearly plans, kept assigned to your account while you renew. VNumbr also sells single-use OTP numbers, billed per activation, for a one-off verification code — see the OTP Numbers page.

Can I make calls or send SMS from the number?

No. The service is built for receiving SMS. Outbound calling and messaging are not part of it.

Can I choose a specific area code?

Where the country supports it, yes — an area selector appears on that country's page. Otherwise you get the next available number in that country.

Signing up and paying

Do I need to provide ID?

No government ID is required to sign up. Just use an email address and pay with cryptocurrency or your wallet balance.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cryptocurrency — via Cryptomus or NOWPayments, both supporting a wide range of coins including Bitcoin and USDT — or your account's wallet balance after topping up. Card and PayPal support is planned for a future update, but is not available yet.

How fast do I get my number?

Instantly after payment confirms. For crypto payments that means as soon as the blockchain transaction is confirmed and the gateway notifies us — typically well under a minute.

Is there a free trial?

No. Every number is a paid monthly or yearly plan from the start.

Do you share my data with the carrier or other companies?

No. VNumbr respects your privacy — your number, your messages and your account details are never shared with the mobile carrier or with any third party.

Renewals and keeping a number

What happens when my number expires?

You'll get an email warning before expiry. Turn on auto-renew to have it renewed automatically from your wallet balance, or renew manually any time before the grace period ends.

What is auto-renew?

An optional setting per number that renews it automatically from your wallet balance when the plan ends, so you never lose a number you rely on by forgetting.

Can I switch a number from monthly to yearly?

Choose the plan length again the next time you renew it — each renewal can pick monthly or yearly.

What happens if I let a number lapse?

It stays reserved for a short grace period, then is released back into the pool and can no longer receive messages for you.

Using the number

Where do I read my texts?

In your dashboard's live inbox, which updates as messages arrive. Every message is tied to the number that received it.

Will every app accept my number?

Most do, since it is a real carrier number. Each app makes its own acceptance decision though, and no provider can guarantee any specific one.

Can I use one number for several apps?

Yes — register the same number with as many services as you like, and every code lands in the same inbox.

Refunds and support

Can I get a refund?

See our Refund Policy for the specifics — in short, if a number fails to activate or receive SMS due to an error on our end, you're covered.

How do I contact support?

Open a ticket from your dashboard for the fastest response, or email us at [email protected].

Is there an API?

Yes, a REST API for buying, renewing and reading messages programmatically. See the API documentation page.
