Why a separate number for WhatsApp Business
WhatsApp ties an account to one phone number, and customers see that number. Using your personal number for the business means clients can reach you at all hours, your private contacts can see your business profile, and a handover to an employee or partner is awkward.
A dedicated number solves this. The business account has its own identity, you can hand it over or retire it without touching your personal line, and your private number stays private.
How to set it up
Choose a country whose prefix suits your customers, pay for the plan, and wait for the number to appear in your dashboard. Install WhatsApp Business, enter the number, and WhatsApp sends a verification code by SMS. Open your dashboard inbox, copy the code and finish creating the profile.
WhatsApp may also offer to call you with the code. Voice calls are not supported on VNumbr numbers, so choose the SMS option.
Keeping the account working
WhatsApp asks for a fresh code when you reinstall the app, switch phones or restore a backup. That is why the number must stay yours: with a permanent line the code always has somewhere to go. Turn on auto-renew from your wallet balance so it never lapses.
Acceptance is WhatsApp's decision and can change. A real carrier number tends to be accepted more readily than an internet-based one, but nobody can guarantee it.
Good to know
